A Trio of Lobster Hooping Essentials

Lobster Hooping Tools from Promar
The Eclipse Hoop Net
Promar’s excellent hoop nets are known for user-friendly features that make rigging a snap. Now Promar’s designers are tackling the challenges of net retrieval. It’s not always possible to get directly overhead. The new Eclipse Hoop Net adds a third ring of mesh for improved catch retention even when the net is pulled to the surface at an angle. It is bulkier than older styles, but not too big to add to a kayak set according to Promar staffer Jim Salazar. The Eclipse is meant to be used with the new snap-on harness and requires the addition of a large float, bridle float and main line.
6 L.E.D. Adjustable Headlamp
Lightweight headlamps are a kayak staple for hands-free task lighting. Promar’s version features 1 red and 5 white L.E.D. bulbs for a multitude of lighting combinations. Use just the red bulb to protect your night vision, or power up all 5 white bulbs to better illuminate delicate tasks such as knot-tying. Energy efficient L.E.D.s last 10 times longer than traditional incandescent headlamps. The Promar Headlamp is water resistant and mounted on an adjustable base. www.promarnets.com

A Beacon in the Dark: the Scotty SEA-Light
Be seen for safety. Unlike most other kayak marker light solutions, the Scotty SEA-Light puts the illumination where it’s needed, a full 20 inches above the deck. The included light projects an intense beam that Scotty says is visible for up to two miles. The USCG approved light is waterproof, corrosion resistant, and removable for portable use or attachment to a PFD. The SEA-Light comes with a combination side/deck mount, but fits in any standard Scotty rod-holder base. www.scottypaddlesports.com |
