By Paul LebowitzSeptember 30, 2005 David Easton’s San Diego hot streak burned onward on September 17 when Plastic Navy staged the Malibu Kayaks’ Bass Attack in San Diego Bay. Easton’s 5-fish 9.62-pound tournament stringer of sand and spotted bay bass was enough to earn him a second consecutive Tournament Trail victory. Robert Yakemonis (8.56 pounds) continued his strong showing with a second place finish. Team Cobra angler Jack Lamoureux was third with 8.52 pounds. With five events down and two to go, Matt Brewer held onto his edge in the race for Plastic Navy’s coveted Kayak Angler of the Year honors. David Easton and Team Wilderness Systems angler Mark Pierpont are tied for second, 2.14 pounds behind. Setting up an intriguing finish, several others are lurking within range of the top spot. Action shifts north to Newport Bay on October 29 for Southwind Kayak Center’s Fish-N-Paddle Bay Bass Tournament. The catch and release event kicks off at 8:00 a.m., complete with a special division for first-time competitors. |
